Photographer Robert Burley has been chronicling the inevitable shift from analog to digital photography for the last decade. By capturing the empty, derelict buildings that once were massive manufacturing facilities for Kodak, Agfa, and Polaroid, Burley is able to tell a story that puts the constant change of technology in a stark, nostalgic light. Burley’s new book, Disappearance of Darkness: Photography at the End of the Analog Era can be purchased now.

354 Photographers, a Brussels-based studio run by Maxime Delvaux and Kevin Laloux, presents Box, a diorama series made out of cardboard with digitally enhanced human subjects perfectly shot and digitally placed. Each scene is dark and depressing built over the course of a few days. But at least, this will make you think of Christmas in a different light. Santa never stood a chance.

The official start of winter is fast approaching, so here’s a time-lapse reminder of what came before. There’s nothing like autumn in New York. It’s like falling in love for the first time all over again.

Watch Le Taxidermiste, an animated short by directors Paulin Cointot, Dorianne Fibleuil, Antoine Robert and Maud Sertour. It is sweet and sad with a tinge of inappropriate humor. So I pretty much adore it.
